The School of Nursing and Midwifery in Ardabil was founded in 1993, accepting 46 students. In 2005, the faculty successfully obtained permission to admit undergraduate students in midwifery, with the first batch starting in the first semester of 2006. In February 2006, the faculty also received authorization for the Emergency Medical Services program, and began admitting students for this field in 2007. Additionally, in October 2008, the Operating Room Studies program was separated from the School of Medicine and Paramedical Sciences and added to the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

In February 2014, it successfully initiated the admission of students for a master's program in nursing. In October 2014, a master's program in Internal-Surgical Nursing was established, followed by the establishment of a master's program in Emergency Nursing in 2017. The first batch of the master's program in midwifery was admitted in 2019, and in October 2022, a master's program in Pediatric Nursing was launched, with students enrolled in the program.
