Center for Research on Arthropod-Borne Diseases

Arthropod-Borne Diseases (ABDs) are among the significant diseases worldwide that are transmitted by arthropods. Arthropods are the largest branch of living organisms, comprising over 85% of all known species. Notable diseases that are newly emerging and re-emerging and transmitted by arthropods include Dengue Fever, Zika, Chikungunya, Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, Malaria, various types of Leishmaniasis, Pediculosis, Myiasis, and more.

The Research Center for Arthropod-Borne Diseases at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences was granted a preliminary license based on the decision issued in the 289th meeting of the Scientific and Higher Education Council of the Ministry on March 4, 2023. In line with its mission, the center aims to develop research and training in the identification of various arthropods and the diseases they transmit, ecology, biology, morphology, ecotoxicology, and the identification of their reservoirs, as well as the distribution patterns of vectors in Iran and Ardabil Province. This initiative seeks to take steps toward disease control and prevention through educational and research solutions in collaboration with researchers and governmental and private institutions.
