Center for Research on Zoonoses
Zoonotic diseases are a large group of diseases caused by bacterial, parasitic, fungal, and viral agents that can be transmitted between humans and animals. Some of the most important zoonotic diseases prevalent in the region and the country include brucellosis, leishmaniasis, hydatidosis, salmonellosis, rabies, anthrax, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), dermatophytosis, and more.
The Zoonotic Research Center at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences obtained its preliminary license based on the decision made in the 281st meeting of the Council for the Development of Medical Sciences Universities of the Ministry of Health on February 22, 2021. In line with its mission, the center aims to develop education and research on the identification of infectious diseases common between humans and animals, recognizing animal reservoirs, local vectors, and the geographical distribution patterns of these diseases in Ardabil province and nearby areas in northwestern Iran. Its goal is to implement appropriate control and preventive programs through the health system to address public health issues.
The Zoonotic Research Center has an independent research council and, with the support of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences, is ready to collaborate with researchers both within and outside the university and to accept research proposals from across the country.
