ARUMS Hosts Inaugural Meeting of the Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA)
Following its inclusion in the Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA), ARUMS organized an introductory meeting facilitated by the Office of Global Strategies and International Affairs. Dr. Leila Hajighahramani, the international affairs officer, provided a brief overview of the association and highlighted the significance of internationalization in medical education. Founded in 1985 in Manila, the Asian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) International serves as the primary representative organization for medical students in Asia, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond. Iran has recently achieved Observer Membership status.
During the meeting, Soheil Azarmi, the AMSA secretary at ARUMS, discussed the various partner associations, committees, and their roles. The forthcoming EAMSC committee and the topics to be addressed, including Global Warming and Global Health, were also highlighted. Additionally, the main concerns related to membership and the advantages it brings to the university were stressed.
